I Have been going through a real tough divorce from an emotionally and verbally abusive man. I have 3 kids as well as a masters degree and work full time. 3 years ago, before I was divorced, my ex moved me out of ny, where my family is. A year and half ago I filed for divorce. Unfortunately I had a very bad attorney and I had to let her go last summer. I have a great attorneyt but because of the clean up he has had to do the legal process is still going on. I am owed close to about $20,000 in cold support that my ex refuses to pay.
My amazing parents have suported me emotionally and financially throughout this entire process. They have refinanced their home and were close to retiring, but now have accrued a lot of debt just helping me. I have been trying to pay my own bills (without any child support) and have my parents focus on just paying my attorney fees. My mother fractured her back a few months ago and is now limited in her ability to work. I have reached out to relatives in order to help my parents out and they have helped but that has reached its limit. I really, really, need money for my parents who have been there for me, to help alleviate the cost of attorney fees, and the money they have already laid out (especially what they paid orginal attorney, who did nothing). I wish I had the money to help them out but I'm just making it by (my ex key me wirth over $20,000 of debt by opening credit cards in my name, unbeknownst to me, and in tbe past month I had no option but to file for bankruptcy). I don't know how much longer the legal precess will take but it's not going to be a short process. Any help here, so I can help my parents out would be so appreciated.
