For 4 months, from November to March, my 15-year-old little sister Emily was hospitalized for gravely disabled functioning and it was a devastating time as doctors couldn't pinpoint a cause or source of her symptoms, she wasn't reacting well to treatment, and her doctors sought 2nd and 3rd opinions to help find answers, which we still don't have. Her condition was slowly improving when she was released from the hospital, and my father, Juan, had to take family leave in order to take care of her full-time, and while there has been some support from social services and I've been working doubly to help them financially, it has still been very challenging. Then, on Wednesday, July 18, my dad fell victim to an IRS fraud scam aimed at targeting vulnerable populations and lost a significant amount of money - most of what they had. We have been incredibly careful to not ask for financial support through these challenging few months, but it has now reached a point of necessity. Please help this Father and Daughter (my dad, Juan, and sister, Emily) get back on their feet and support their overall recovery.
