Hello, my name is katherine, just a little backstory, i am 20 years old and work as a pharmacy technician in florida, i live with my boyfriend and his mom. he recently graduated from a technical school to become a correctional officer, he is currently working for the same retail chain (how me met) as i am part time, just not within the pharmacy. he is going through the paperwork and testing portion to be hired for his new job a few counties over from us in a jail and will start within the next month. i gave birth to our son on 5/2/16 i had a good amount of money saved prior to taking my leave and had bought all of what my son needed throughout my pregnancy. the company i work for only pays me for 6 weeks on maternity leave, it is broken down into 1 week of full pay, and the remaining weeks are half pay. any time after that is on unpaid disability leave/personal leave which i am currently on after my maternity leave is over...so here we are now, in the beginning of july and i have used ever bit of savings i have and have gotten my last paycheck last week.. i am due to go back to work by august 1st, however i do not have the funds to pay my bills... the only one i do not have covered is my car insurance bill and my birthday is july 29th so my tag is up for renewal on my car.. i do not know what else to do. between all of our bills and not being able to go back to work in time to pay them i am lost. i have never asked for anything from anyone, i have always done things myself but i really do not have any other options..i have spoken with my manager to end my leave earlier but they cannot fit me into the schedule early enough to recieve a paycheck by the time my bills are due (by the end of july). i would greatly appreciate any money donated im sure a lot of mothers and families know the struggle of having to deal with the US's horrible paid family leave policies.. we have some of the worst out of many countries. anything will help and i cannot express how much i would be greatful. thankyou!
