My daughter is a hard worker for the Hot Springs, AR School District. She is the administrative assistant to the superintendent of the school district. Today she was told that, although she has been receiving an extra stipend of $200/month for work above and beyond her job description for the past two years, the district is now cancelling the stipend because they are financially strapped. They refused to consider a merit raise, despite an excellent job performance.
My daughter's husband works at a minimum wage job and his earnings go for delinquent child support for a child long prior to his marriage to our daughter. Mina pays all household expenses from her salary as well as paying a $500/month premium for her health insurance. They live in a 700 sf shoebox to keep rent minimal. 3 years ago an ice storm caused a tree to fall, which then plowed completely through her car, front to back. As the insurance did not allow for another vehicle, we allowed her to borrow our second car. However that car is now broken down and neither we as her parents nor she can afford to fix that borrowed car. Thus she now has no transportation.
Mina is now 7-8 weeks pregnant. She discussed this with her employer today and was told that she would be able to take the 12 weeks mandated by the Family Medical Leave Act. However, it would be unpaid. She cannot support her family during this 12 week period and we are thus searching for help in finding that period, as well as help to pay the medical bills associated with the birth.
Mina earns $33,675.00 per year, which breaks down to $2,802.00 per month and $652.00 per week. That 12 week period would thus amount to $7,820.00, and if possible we would like to add in the approximated cost of the birth, about $5,000.00. Her father and I cannot provide financial assistance because we are both disabled (he has Multiple Sclerosis and Atherosclerosis with bypass surgery and 16 stents and I have been in treatment for 10 years for extreme back pain). We are both in our mid 60's and have been social security disabled for about 10 years, so we are unable to assist.
Mina is 33 and suffers from Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS) and severe Restrictive Airway Disease requiring use of a nebulizer daily. She also suffers with a non working thyroid gland. Mina had been told that the PCOS would prevent her from getting pregnant at all so the very fact that she is pregnant is nothing short of a miracle. Won't you please consider helping us with the funding described above??? Any contribution you can make will be so appreciated. Please help us all bring this muscle to fruition. Please!!!!
