Big medical bills and being away from work is creating a huge financial hardship for Ms. Sharon. She has cared for so many of our children. This is our chance to give back to her. Now is the time for all of us who love her, who have children who love her, who have been gifted with her smile and presence, to step up and help her out. Let's return the love that Ms. Sharon has given to our children!

Ms. Sharon Dunbar is an extremely important person to many young children. Since 2004, she has worked in the Toddler Community at Bright Water Montessori School, providing love and care to hundreds of children and their parents. She is a rock of support to many family and community members. She is always quick with a smile and kind words, forever checking how you are doing and giving everything she has to the children.

Recently, Ms. Sharon has been struck by health problems. Following surgery to restore circulation to her lower leg and foot, she suffered a heart attack and returned to the hospital to have some stents placed in her heart. She is facing a long recovery and will not be able to return to work until the Fall, at the earliest.

Please Shine for Sharon by contributing to her fund. All contributions go directly to Ms. Sharon.

Latest Update

Sharon is finally on the road to recovery after a couple of rough months. Her right leg was amputated above the knee in mid-May. For a few weeks she was back and forth between the hospital and rehab care centers struggling with problems related to wound-healing and blood flow to her other foot. On June 22, the big toe of her left foot was also amputated and she has been recovering from that surgery. At this point, she feels like her healing is back on track and she is getting stronger. She has physical therapy and occupational therapy every week day. They are working her hard and she is making progress. Her leg is healing and she is looking forward to getting a prosthetic leg in a month or so. She really wants to get back to her home and her life.

We are sad to have to let Sharon's friends and supporters know that the surgeries she underwent were not effective in restoring her circulation. As a result, last Thursday, Sharon's right leg was amputated above the knee. This is a very difficult development. The fundraising goal of $15,000 would cover her medical costs and some lost wages through August. She will now also have many additional costs. Please continue to ask your friends and family members to help. Anything helps!!

The health problems Sharon is having are a result of peripheral artery disease, a complication of diabetes. With PAD, circulation to the legs and feet becomes very poor. Sharon had two surgeries in an attempt to improve circulation to her right leg.
