Terra Madre Montessori Preschool/Kindergarten "Where school feels like home"
To provide a safe and nurturing learning environment which emphasizes social/emotional awareness of one's self, others, and the Earth on which we all depend.
Our preschool is located on a 1.5 acre piece of lush riparian land which borders Soldier's trail wash. It is home to a wide variety of cactus, trees, and diverse animal habitat. Both the indoor and outdoor classrooms are designed to take advantage of the natural beauty and serenity of the land.
Terra Madre will offer a three year program serving ten children ages three to six. Inside the classroom, students will receive individualized one-on-one lessons in reading, writing, mathematics, geography, music, and science, using the Montessori method. A strong emphasis will be placed on environmental education. Children will study desert flora and fauna, as well as participate in sustainability practices such as rainwater harvesting, composting, and gardening. Parent participation in the classroom will be whole-heartedly welcomed and encouraged!
