Get D'Asia McCane to Becker College
On March 15, 2017, Mikala T. (Lopes) McCane passed away peacefully in the Veterans Administration (VA) Hospital in West Roxbury, MA, leaving behind three children (David, D'Asia and Alton), one grandson (Devin) and a host of other family members. In her memory, the Lopes family is setting up a college fund for Mikala's only daughter, D'Asia Marie McCane, who graduated from Upper Cape Tech on June 4th, 2017.
D'Asia made her mother extremely proud this past December when she was accepted (early admissions) to Becker College in Worcester, MA, and received the John Hancock Academic Scholarship for $15,000, as well as $10,000 in state and federal grants. The total cost of attending Becker College, however, is $52,000 per year.
Beginning in August 2017, D'Asia will be pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice at Becker College, and she has already declared her concentration within the major - Forensic Science and Crime Scene Processing. Please help us send D'Asia to Becker College this fall with your donation to this fund in Mikala's memory. Your gift is greatly appreciated. Thank you.

I look at the beautiful face of Mia and makes me remember her when she was growing up in Oakland. Tyra and I were the best buds in high school at Bishop O'Dowd in Oakland, California and I spent a lot of memorable time at the home of the Lopes. Mia was our heart and we loved your family. My sisters Jacqueline and Stacy were friends of Mia and her sister Tyra (Bishop O'Dowd). I remember Mr Lopes too. My mother Lois Goldsby who has been deceased, was friend of Mia's mom. We used to take an exercise class together! I recall those times with fondness. I pray for God to support you and to give you strength.
