Our dear Sarah has spent the last four years at Occidental College making exceptional grades, fighting for worker rights, mastering new languages, bringing joy wherever she goes, and becoming a truly first-rate, game-changing, world-shaking woman!
Here's the real tea. As a Millenial / Gen Z cusp, she is entering the world at a particularly precarious moment. Her generation is not only facing unprecedented student loan debt and climate instability, but they are also entering post-collegiate life in the midst of a global pandemic. That may make you feel dreary and hopeless, but fear not! Times like these may reveal the cracks in our society, but they also reveal the true nature of human kindness, compassion, and community.
In fact, our Sarah is truly a beacon of kindness, compassion, and the spirit of community. We all know well that Sarah is one of the most loveable among us. Her smile has infected everyone she has come into contact with at Occidental -- from her friends, to her professors and mentors, to the dozens of low-wage workers on campus who were empowered by her leadership. She teaches us all that we are nothing without each other.
In that spirit, let us accompany her as she enters this new phase of her journey! Whatever amount you can give will remind Sarah that she is not in this alone -- that she has each of us at her back wherever life takes her next. Thank you for being her most wonderful family and community!
