My 3 year old son was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes in January of 2016. He is now insulin dependant for the rest of his life. We have applied for a Dexcom CGM (constant glucose monitoring) system for him but was denied by his insurance. This system is $1500 to start with and $300 dollars every month after that and every 6 months $1500 for the equipment and updates.. I am a single mom of 3 and I was on medical leave with him so there is no income. My job said that I had exceeded my FML time and they were going to have to let me go.. We travel every two weeks to Roanoke VA to see his Endocrinologist and that takes a lot of expenses to do that it is 4 hours round trip. I am also having to buy test strip and glucose tablets and other supplies to manage his diabetes bc the insurance will only pay for so much and he uses more for the month. This system would greatly help me to take care of BrentLe better I am able to catch his highs and lows quickly during the day bc i know his cues but it is crucial at night for him bc that is when he tends to go low. By the grace of God he woke me up 3 times in the night so far to catch BrentLe's low... if I had not woke up it could have been bad... a tragedy. God woke me to fix his low and I know that! This system would give us peace of mind (if that is a thing) with a type 1 child. I constantly worry.. this system would also help us by letting me feel more comfortable him staying with someone else while I am away from him for work or doctors appointments. Also when he is school age I could keep track of him at school. This system would help us in so many ways. Anything helps and we would greatly appreciate your help with these expenses. God Bless and Thank you from the bottom of my heart in advance!!!
