Most of us believe we will have a family someday and a partner to share the joy with. As little kids, we believe that this is just what happens and we look forward to it later… Later approaches, we meet our partner and hopefully love of our life and decide it is finally that wonderful time to grow our family, just what we thought as little children happens so naturally and easy. However, some of us find out that it is not as easy and simple as it seems. Knowing Liz my whole life, I knew that nothing mattered more to her than to have a happy family with children one day. To be a Mommy. This is something she dreamed about as a little girl and spoke about frequently while we were growing up. She has dedicated most of her life caring for children in preparation for this moment. This is her one thing, this is the thing she has dreamed of her whole life.

You may or may not personally know Robbie & Liz Dawdy. This incredible couple met in college at Chico State in 2008. They dated for 5 years, got engaged, and finally married on July 12, 2014. Throughout this time, their love and happiness continued to grow deeper and deeper every year. They anticipated their wedding day and they knew they wanted to try and start a family as soon as they said “I DO”. And so they began.

After trying to conceive naturally on their own for a year, without any success they began to see an infertility specialist in November, 2015. Liz’s lab work indicated high FSH (follicle stimulating hormone) and low AMH (anti-mullerian hormone), which all pointed to diminished ovarian reserve and premature ovarian failure. They were told that they only had a 2% chance of ever conceiving naturally on their own.

On their first round of IUI (intrauterine insemination) in February, 2016 Liz did become pregnant – however with great complication. It was an ectopic pregnancy in one of her fallopian tubes which actually caused it to hemorrhage, before she was rolled into emergency surgery due to internal bleeding, they found that she was also pregnant in her uterus (2 pregnancies) and they wanted to try and save the embryo within the uterus. In order to save her life, they had to remove the fallopian tube that ruptured and left the other embryo within her uterus to give it a fighting chance. Unfortunately, several days later this pregnancy did not take either. Liz was 7 weeks pregnant. Liz has gone through a total of 5 IUIs without success and has been on the waitlist for in vitro for November 2016 since April 2016. Robbie & Liz’s first IVF round marks their two year journey trying to conceive.

You may not be aware, but in vitro is not covered by most insurance - not even one penny. One attempt round costs over $20,000. The medications, the doctors visits, the shots, the egg retrievals, the freezing of eggs, the implant – it is costly but when it comes to the price tag of their future child – this is truly priceless. I have watched their journey with a heavy and sad heart. Liz has had to take a step down from her full-time salaried position and work part-time. Robbie and Liz continue to struggle with bay area apartment rent and costly fertility treatments. These two want this more than anything, the opportunity and fighting chance to conceive and have a child that is of their own genetics. Any sort of contribution to lessen the financial setback on these two would move mountains in their hearts. They are too proud to ask, but I am not.

Please help bring joy to this amazing couples life by donating today.

Thank you so much for your generosity.
