Isabel's Fund
Six weeks ago I began having symptoms of a difficult to find and diagnose infection. After seeing a few doctors, undergoing many tests to rule out the return of cancer, my physician was able to locate the source (related to incisions from prior cancer treatments) and I have begun an initial six week treatment an which allow them to put a cocktail of medications directly into my abdomen. We are hopeful this will kick the infection and no further surgery will be necessary.
It has been a difficult few weeks of challenges and physical pain and hospital stays that meant taking unpaid time away from work, and health insurance that still leaves me with $2,700 in medical debt.
I am taking good care, and showing up for these challenges with awareness of our human corporeal vulnerability and all my love, grateful for kind doctors and for treatment plans and for the support of the humans who gather round, for being here alive and humming with what it feels like to know the sound of your
own heart still beating,
the tenderness of what cannot be controlled, the deep feeding of being mey.
