I have worked all my life to help those in need in RI. I have worked with handicapable children and sfultd, was active in helping addicts find dignified help, and finding parents support around their difficult children. I hold 4 Masters degrees and felt ready to help others for a very, long time. Then the unexpected happened. I was diagnosed with Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever, Chronic Lyme, and a pdudotumer affecting my balance. My work days were over and I was at least lucky enough to know how to ask for help. I had doors slammed in my face. My medication monthly with my Medicare sponsored Blue Cross is $280 a month. My Lyme Dr in not covered, she's $250. I was lucky enough to recently break my wrist. MRI $150. Splint $90, and upcoming surgery $250.
I make social security. 1400 a month. Too much for food stamps. Medicaid. Most public assistance. I'm still paying for the MRI but need the surgery soon.
And of course winter is upon us. Wood, oil, propane. I feel I am loosing the battle. So many people have never worked and are handed these bsdic needs. I've worked!!!,yet because I've worked, I qualify for nothing.
I am asking for as little as you can help to get me through at least the winter.
God Bless
