Michael is afflicted by a very rare medical disorder known as Bickerstaff's - Brain Stem Encephalitis, an extreme variant of Guillian-Barre syndrome, never seen at the Medical Center. He is still in a 3 week coma state, with some signs of regaining consciousness. He is still on total life-support measures for lung, kidney, food and all bodily functions. He cannot speak, and has minimal movement. He is expected to move from ICU to an acute care facility in the next few weeks, followed by multiple months (6 or more) in a rehab center. Contributions are needed to help meet expenses of daily trips to medical center, decreased income, very high levels of out-of-pocket payments with insurance, (re-sets after January 1), 2 in college.

Day 77 WOW! We are overwhelmed by your generosity and support. What wonderful people you are! Michael is back home and going to outpatient P.T. The doctors and therapists are amazed by his willpower and progress (but, we space folk know that he is full of "the right stuff") and is being assisted by your faith and prayers. He is walking now and working on rebuilding his strength. However, the double vision and nerve reconnections have their own timetable. This Plumfund campaign ends 1/31/2016 and we are so close to our goal. Thank you so very much for your help, and please keep the prayers coming. I pray that blessings will be heaped upon you. ~ Jordan

Day 41 WOW! You are such an amazing group of friends. Thank you for supporting our family with your e-mails, calls and donations. Michael has been transferred to TIRR, the top Rehabilitation Hospital in Texas. He is applying his focused space guy training to tackle each new goal, like getting off the ventilator and getting his tracheotomy removed. Which means he can now talk. He has already endeared himself to the doctors and staff at TIRR with his positive personality and "failure is not an option" attitude." Getting his brain and body reconnected is trickier, but I know Michael will overcome every challenge. Keep the prayers coming, cause they are working! Blessings upon you all ~ Jordan

Day 34 and out of the ICU, and off the ventilator, now breathing on his own! I want all of you in our extended family to know how much your prayers, love and support mean to Michael and I and the girls. Your beautiful letters to him mean more to him than you will ever know, and be cherished forever! Your generosity and offers of help have touched us so deeply and are very humbling. Your financial donations have been a great blessing and quite overwhelming to us both. Since everyone keeps asking me what they can do to help us, I would say keep the prayers coming, and please share this link with as many as possible! More updates to follow!
