Sweet little Scarlet was born April 14, 2016. At 33 weeks, she was 4 pounds 1 ounce and entered the world in a dramatic, powerful, exciting and premature way. She has spent the majority of her first 2 months in the hospital where she has had many setbacks, but has continued to be such a strong fighter.
She is currently admitted at Children's Hospital and while there have been several diagnoses, her family is still awaiting answers to her overall condition. As of now she has been diagnosed with laryngomalacia and tracheomalacia and is scheduled to have surgery for these ailments. She is unable to tolerate PO feeds and hasn't been gaining weight, so she now has an NG tube. She has had an esophageal study, multiple GI scopes and rectal biopsy. Currently she is also being tested and watched for signs of cystic fibrosis with the results remaining inconclusive at this time. This has been a strenuous couple of months for this tiny girl's debut into the world!
Scarlet is so beautiful and strong and loved so much by her parents. Her mother, Autumn, is a labor and delivery RN who has been dedicated to making the delivery experience memorable and amazing for so many families for the past 11 years. She is very passionate and goes out of her way to help families on their most important days during both optimal and undesirable outcomes. Autumn is an amazing mother to Scarlet and her three Brothers Jaiden 13, Keenen 11 and Julian 8.
During this time Autumn has, fortunately, been able to stay at Scarlet's side. However, she hasn't been able to work and the bills are piling up. With no clear overall diagnosis or discharge date, the next few months hold many unknowns.
Autumn does so much good in this world and has touched so many lives. I wanted to provide an opportunity for us -- her friends, family and acquaintances -- to give back to her in her time of need and to show her how much we care. Positive vibes and prayers for Baby Scarlet!
