We have had a difficult season with a host of issues. One being a surgery that went awry on Feb 9th. It’s has led “Momma Bear” unable to walk and in wound care each week. The wound was so deep that ligaments were revealed. Each week there is a progression but with Metastatic Breast Cancer and Kidney Disease, along with Hashimoto’s had cause the body to heal slowly. Many bills for wound care, infusion therapies, doctors, hospitals and personal care have crept up.

Latest Update

I am not even sure how we are standing, except by the Grace of God! Since I haven't posted in weeks: My foot has a fracture in it, the swelling is intense still- wearing compression socks 24/7- double ply! I'm also in terrific pain and look like an ogre trying to walk. It's going to be months and months of rehab and I have switched to another physician who is taking this very seriously! We decided, along with the doctors, that traveling to the family cabin in Colorado wasn't an option this year. It truly broke my heart as it is our yearly tradition. The kids at first didn't want to go without Mom and Dad... but then our firecracker Macaela decided she wanted to go! So, off to Colorado she went with Grandma, Uncle and Aunt and cousin! They had a few hiccups on the way and then once they were there, we found our Macaela's school is closing!!! (they don't get me a lot of room to update so please feel free to look at caringbridge.)

It has been a long 3+ months of no walking or maneuvering. On Feb 9th, I had a surgery to reattach Achilles’ tendon and to fix my heel spur that was growing rapidly and causing other issues. Somehow in the healing process my body had a breakdown and my foot ended up needing a few minor surgical interventions to attempt to fix the skin so it would close. These failed and I ended up with a terrible infection in the wound. This infection has now affected other parts of my body in a serious way. I also ended up going to Wound Care six weeks ago and still wrapped up! I go each week for them to redress the wound and unable to get it wet or put pressure on it. My kidneys are having a difficult time and the edema is bad. I have double compression stockings on at this time. This has completely put a link on me doing much. I do have a scooter but my spinal tumors have grown and puts pressure on them because I’m not in perfect alignment. I’m at the mercy of everyone and it has been a weird
