Taylor Brooke Smith-Collins was born with a rare liver disease where 1 out 10,000 babies are born with this disease - Biliary Atresia. Growing up it has always been a bumpy road filled with doctor appointments many traveled to Atlanta, medicine after medicine, and the nagging of the "one day" the doctors have always warned her about - she would need a liver transplant, & have a GI bleed. Taylor had the GI bleed in 2007 which she was in critical condition but had surgery to band the vessels that caused her this trauma. Taylor didn't have much trouble after that. The doctors took her off her medicines, and said she was doing really good. In 2011 Taylor was blessed with her son Zander, she had a good pregnancy and stayed in good health until after giving birth. She had retained a lot of water. The doctors prescribed her medicine, and she appeared to be doing well again. She has been blessed for almost three years straight with no complications. Taylor recently got married in 2013 and moved to Indiana. She started to become ill and she had to be taken to the Indianapolis hospital, complaining of pain, and felt really bad. After several tests and lab work the doctors told her she was in the first stages of liver failure and eventually have to be listed on the list for a liver transplant. Doctors explained to her and her family how the liver scale for a transplant is first handled. On a scale 1 to 15, 15 being its time to be on the list and get geared up for a transplant. They told her, her liver was at a 12. Taylor is at home but on a lot medicine right now as of this post. Her next step is to meet with the Liver Specialist and transplant team to see what her next steps will consist of. The proceeds are to help with expenses for her and her family. Right now Taylor is uninsured until her insurance kicks in in mid August assuming they approve her again. Her parentsare having to travel from Georgia to Indiana to help with Zander and Taylor while her husband works to provide for his family. Please take a minute to see what is laid upon your heart to contribute to this sweet family and help them out during this difficult time.
