Tram and AP were in an accident that took their lives on 5/21/2017, just a couple days from their 3 year wedding anniversary. They were on their way back to San Jose, CA from Monterey, when they were struck head on by a pick-up truck that had lost control from a flat tire. Their bodies are on their way back to Denver, CO where the funeral services are being arranged by both families. AP's family will be traveling from Finland. Please help support their families during this difficult time. All proceeds will go towards covering the memorial costs for their families.

Apart from great memories of studying together and working at Laboratory of Physics (Helsinki University of Technology) and all freetime activities in Finland (frisbee, Fotoni (founding physics students association) and moments with friends and colleagues), I had a great pleasure to enjoy AP's and Tram's hospitality in 2013 in Denver on a weekend during my business trip in the US. We couldn't meet too often with AP after he moved out from Finland but kept contact during the years. I missed AP's dissertation in the Netherlands and also AP's and Tram's wedding but could never think that the Denver visit in 2013 was the last time we saw! My last contact to AP was in November 2016 with typical witty comments from AP: "Juu, ma olen taalla Nebraskan NVIDIAlla :), maaliskuussa muutetaan Kaliforniaan. Miten menee? Meilla menee hyvin kun on toi mahtava uusi presidenttikin valittu :)" I feel grateful that I had a chance to know such a great person as AP and had an opportunity to meet also
