This is Nick, one of HART’s (Homeless Animal Rescue Team in Cambria, CA) newest additions. He has a structural defects of his chest called Pectus Excavatum (or PE for short) yes, I know it sounds Harry Potterish. This condition is characterized by the breast bone or sternum turning upward towards his spine & his rib cage is flattened on the bottom instead of rounded. Both of these deformities compromise his breathing & heart function & make him vulnerable to respiratory infections, collapsed lung or injury to his heart. Nick is an energetic little boy but he can't play vigorously with other kittens or cats because he could be injured by a kick to his chest. The good news, in Nick's case, is that it is correctable but the bad news it is a costly procedure that is beyond HART's normal funding resources. Your donation large or small will help us reach our goal so this sweet boy can enjoy a full, active and happy life. Any excess funds raised & not used for Nick's surgery or recovery will go to HART's Guardian Angel Fund.
