For over a year we have been dreaming about opening a Cat Cafe' in downtown Lewisburg, PA. Lets face it - the rescues are bursting at the seams, and we continually have more rescued cats than foster homes available.

The Scratching Post will help to relieve some of this by offering a free-roaming space where these fully vetted, adoptable, loving and homeless shelter cats can call "home". A home where the public can come in and visit with them, get some cat therapy, help to socialize them and provide some companionship to these wonderful animals (while reaping the health rewards of interacting with an animal). Hopefully, it will also result in some purrfect adoptions.

A team of volunteers have finally secured a location just off of Market Street in the Lewisburg Pharmacy Building (previously the Temperence House). This project is 100% volunteer driven and is a non-profit organization. We can only make this happen with fundraising dollars needed for remodeling, supplies, rent, and most importantly, vetting and care of the animals.

We anticipate that the Scratching Post will be open at least four days/week and will be completely run by volunteers with every dollar being reinvested back in to the health, welfare and safety of the animals. Our goal is to have everything in place to open this fall, by November.

Our goal is set at $22,000. This seems a little daunting for our volunteers to raise these funds, but we also know that we can DO THIS TOGETHER!! Every little bit helps. All expenses need to be raised through fundraising and there are many up front costs that need to happen now including zoning fees, insurance, build-out/remodel fees, security deposit, supplies and more. Please, we are crossing our paws that we will have enough support to make this happen.

Purrs and Meows. xoxo

Latest Update

We want you to know how the donations to The Scratching Post will be used. Any funds not needed to get the cafe up and running will be used for the rescue of cats and kittens in our area.

Well, we had a good two days of first start fundraising, but we have a long way to go. Please help us raise much needed funds for The Scratching Post- Lewisburg Cat Cafe. Up front costs (coming in the next two weeks) include security deposit, signage and zoning application fees, t-shirt order and security deposit. I would like to set us a goal to reach $2500 by Sunday. Are you up for the challenge? Ready, set....donate (and the kittys thank you in advance!)
